Board of Education Meeting Tonight
October 27, 2025
As a reminder, the Board of Education is convening this evening and will be discussing several important items.
  • The Board will convene at 6:00 as the Audit Committee to hear from our External Auditor and review the 2024-25 year-end financial statement.
  •  Immediately following the Audit Committee meeting, the Board will conduct a Public Hearing on the District-wide Safety and Emergency Management Plan. At the conclusion of the Public Hearing, the Board will convene a Business meeting.
  • In its Business Meeting, the Board will hear a number of information items, including those below.
    • An updated Demographic Study that includes a redistricting analysis (please see further information below).
    • An update on the Capital Projects Bond planning, including results of the Bond Survey, the feedback shared at the October 16 public information session.
    • An Education Report titled, "Comprehensive Assessment in Three Parts: Standardized Testing, Tri-State Benchmarking, and Performance-Based Practices."
The Board and Administration has received a great deal of feedback on the redistricting analysis of the Demographic Study, which took some members in our community by surprise. Please note the following points, which we hope provides some clarification.
  • There are no current plans to redraw elementary boundaries, and no action will be taken tonight.
  • Both the demographic study and redistricting analysis are designed to provide data to the Board and Administration to inform the weighing of potential alternatives related to enrollment pressure at our schools.
  • The report was identified as an important "Topic of Discussion and Debate" at the September 15, 2025, Board of Education meeting (slide 20).
We will keep the Scarsdale community informed of any and all future discussion on this and all topics related to the Capital Projects Bond work that is underway.

The development of a bond referendum depends heavily on public engagement — through emails, public comments at Board meetings, conversations at Board coffees, public information sessions like the one held on October 16, and the Capital Projects Bond survey, which closed on Friday. The opinions of all district residents are critical, we thank all who have engaged thus far, and strongly encourage everyone to participate, listen carefully to the reports, and ask questions. All information related to the bond proposal — including presentations, reports, and meeting recordings — is available to the public on our bond website. All Board of Education meeting information can be found on BoardDocs

In closing, there are two opportunities for Public Comment during Board meetings - one prior to the Information/Discussion items, and one after. Please note that the structure of Public Comment is one-way. The Board and Cabinet will not engage in any discussion with speakers, but an agenda item, Follow-up to Public Comment, takes place at the end of the meeting to answer questions if possible at that time.
