Scarsdale Board of Education Member Biographies

Mary Beth Gose (Term: 2009-2015), President: A community volunteer, Ms. Gose's professional background is in investment banking and government consulting with international experience. Before joining the Board, she was a trustee on Scarsdale's Village Board where, among her many community liaison and committee assignments, she served as Fire Commissioner and chair of the Village Board's Finance, Recreation and Personnel Committees. A former president of the League of Women Voters of Westchester, she has also served with the Scarsdale League of Women Voters, was treasurer of the Scarsdale Forum (TVCC), and chair of its Education Committee. Ms. Gose graduated from Dartmouth College and earned her MBA at the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business. She has two children, one of whom is in college.

Leila Shames Maude (Term: 2013-2016), Vice President: Ms. Maude has been a community volunteer since retiring in 2008 after a 28-year career in finance.  Her last position was at Citadel Investment Group where she was a managing director and portfolio manager in Citadel’s Fundamental Credit Group.  Prior to Citadel Ms. Maude was an analyst and acting portfolio manager at Katonah Capital, formerly an affiliate of Kohlberg & Co.  Her volunteer positions include treasurer and member of the Executive Board of the Fox Meadow Neighborhood Association, vice president and member of the Executive Board of the Fox Meadow PTA, co-leader of a Girl Scout troop, co-leader of an English Language Group, and co-chair of Westchester Reform Temple’s Monthly Mitzvah charity collections. While her children were at Fox Meadow School she co-chaired the pizza lunch program, Art Fair, Staff Appreciation Lunch, New Family Orientation, and the school fundraiser. Ms. Maude holds a B.S. from Union College and an MBA from the University of Michigan. She has lived in Scarsdale for 12 years with her husband Alan and her two children, one in the Middle School and one in college.

Lewis Leone, Jr. (Term: 2010-2015): Mr. Leone is vice president and general manager of WNYW-FOX 5 and WWOR-My9, FOX Television Stations' New York duopoly, and is a board member for the New York State Broadcasters Association.  He is also on the board of PENCIL (Public Education Needs Civic Involvement in Learning), the New York City Police Museum, and the Westchester Chapter of the National Football Foundation. He serves as a corporate advisory board member for the Committee for Hispanic Children and Families and is a member of the Business Committee for the Metropolitan Museum. In Scarsdale, Mr. Leone has been very active coaching youth sports for the past decade, including football, baseball and lacrosse. He has served on the boards of Maroon and White and Scarsdale Youth Football. Leone is a graduate of Princeton University with a bachelor's degree in economics.  He graduated from Scarsdale High School in 1977; he and his wife Wendy have two children, one at SHS and one in college.

Christopher Morin (Term: 2014-2017): Mr. Morin is an investor, financial advisor and volunteer. Before retiring from banking in 2013, Mr. Morin spent most of his career working in the Investment Banking Department at Credit Suisse in New York, Hong Kong and London, initially as a banker and ultimately as Chief Operating Officer and Head of Strategy. He also worked for the New York Stock Exchange in London, managing the Exchange’s business in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and for Thomson Financial, where he ran the Investment Banking, Private Equity and Institutional Research Segment. He graduated from Harvard College and received an MBA from Harvard Business School. His wife, Mei, works as a substitute teacher in kindergarten through fifth grades in Scarsdale. His son attends Scarsdale Middle School, and his daughter attends Fox Meadow Elementary School. The Morins moved to Scarsdale from Hong Kong in 2009.

William Natbony (Term: 2013-2016): Mr. Natbony is an attorney specializing in nor-for-profit representation and complex business, fraud and healthcare litigation.  He also serves as an advisor to the New York Justice Resource Center, an organization dedicated to nurturing and developing corporate/school mentoring relationships, and actively mentors high school students interested in legal careers.  He has previously served as President of the Secor Farms Neighborhood Association and Scarsdale Little League, as Associate Village Historian, as a member of the Scarsdale Bowl Committee, and as Chairman of Scarsdale's Parks and Recreation Committee.  Mr. Natbony is a graduate of the High School for Performing Arts in New York City, the recipient of a bachelor's degree in economics from Princeton University, and the recipient of a law degree from Georgetown University Law Center. He and his wife Cheryl have lived in Scarsdale for over 20 years and have four children, three of whom have matriculated through Scarsdale schools from Kindergarten through SHS, and one who is currently a SHS student.
Suzanne Seiden (Term: 2010-2016): Ms. Seiden is an attorney, formerly practicing in the area of labor and employment, She served as general counsel of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management under President Clinton, and as director of special projects in the Wage and Hour Division of the U.S. Department of Labor, where she helped coordinate the Administration's anti-sweatshop initiative. Mrs. Seiden has served as president of the Quaker Ridge and Middle School PTAs, vice-chair of the Scarsdale Task Force on Drugs and Alcohol, co-chair of the PT Council Young Writers' Conference, and publicity chair of the High School PTA Scholarship Fund. Ms. Seiden is a graduate of Tufts University and Boston University School of Law. She and her husband, Kevin Thurm, have three children; one at the Middle School, one in college, and one college graduate.

Scott E. Silberfein (Term: 2014-2017): Mr. Silberfein is an attorney at NYC-based law firm Moses & Singer LLP where he specializes in business, equipment lease financing, class action defense, employment, and bankruptcy litigation. His volunteer positions include trustee of Westchester Reform Temple, a director of the Scarsdale Youth Soccer Club, a director of the Westchester/Fairfield Chapter of the Crohn's Colitis Foundation of America, and as Vice-President of the Zeta Beta Tau Foundation. In the past, he has served as a member of Scarsdale's Board of Ethics, as Vice-President of the Greenacres Neighborhood Association, as President of the Men's Club of Westchester Reform Temple, as a youth soccer and softball coach, and as chair of various committees of the Greenacres Elementary School PTA. Mr. Silberfein holds a BA (Political Science) from the University of Delaware and a JD from the Cardozo School of Law. He and his wife Joey have lived in Scarsdale since 2006 and have three daughters, one attending the Middle School and two attending Greenacres Elementary School.
