Grading Rationale

Health Education is a subject that is not only academic but also personal. The grading rationale outlined below is designed to reflect growth and learning both personal and academic.

Quarter grades in this course will be based on the following:

1.  Class attendance and punctuality

2.  Class participation and completion of in-class activities

3.  Quizzes and tests/Take home tests

4.  Completion of reading and written assignments

5.  Quarter projects

6.  Class notebook, including notes and handouts

7.  Opportunities may be provided to earn extra credit at various times during the semester

A final exam will be given at the end of the semester. The final is weighted as 1/5 of your cumulative grade for the course. Each quarter grade counts as 2/5.

The cumulative grade (course grade) is the only grade that will appear on your high school transcript. Health Education is a New York State graduation requirement.
