Health education covers issues that relate to students' minds and bodies. Some of the topics covered include: human sexuality, sexually transmitted diseases, AIDS, suicide, death and dying, substance abuse, mental health, stress, nutrition, and safety. Classes are taught in a manner that encourages students to evaluate their health, explore the issues, clarify their values, discuss their ideas, and make their own decisions regarding health. This course is required for all thenth grade students.

This elective course explores the physical, mental, and
emotional growth of the child from conception through early childhood. The course, which
is a combination of field work and seminars, will feature a variety of materials, films,
discussions and guest speakers. Placement in a preschool, day care center, or nursery
school gives each student the opportunity to observe and work with young children and to
apply what they have learned in the seminars.
Prerequisite: Permission of the teacher or department chairperson.
