Scarsdale High School
Parent-Teacher Conferences 2012
The faculty and PTA of Scarsdale High School join me in cordially inviting you to attend our annual Parent-Teacher Conferences, which will take place from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on the evening of Wednesday, October 10 (if your last name begins with the letters A-K), and Thursday, October 18 (for L-Z). We strongly encourage you to follow these alphabetical groupings so that we can equalize the number of conferences each evening.
This year the PTA continues to offer a system of online pre-registration to facilitate a more "parent-friendly" appointment process. You should use the link below in order to complete pre-registration with your child's teachers. Specific instructions for registration, as well as a set of Frequently Asked Questions, should aid your use of this feature. We are indebted to the PTA for maintaining this fine improvement to parent-teacher conferences. We would like to emphasize that we wish all parents to view parent conferences as a two-night event: on one of the nights you speak with your child's teachers; on the other night you volunteer to keep time while other parents have their conferences. Parental assistance has been the key to the success of these evenings. The PTA is keeping a log of parents who volunteer and asks that each parent volunteer at least two nights over a child's four-year attendance at SHS.
The evening will be comprised of brief (two-minute) individual conferences with each of your child’s teachers. Despite the brevity of these meetings, parents and teachers generally prefer them to less personal formats. PTA volunteers maintain lists of parent appointments for each teacher and remind the conferees when two minutes have elapsed. We ask your cooperation in observing the time limit. If you find that you need more than the allotted time, please arrange another conference with the teacher or call the general office (721-2500) to request an appointment. We emphasize the need for patience and courtesy on these evenings. Our parent volunteers and teachers do their best to adhere to the schedule. Please show your understanding of the demands upon them and support their efforts.
The links below will provide you with the Teacher Station Directory and maps of the school. Although parent volunteers will be available in the building to help you find your way, we recommend that you consult your son or daughter to plan the most efficient route from room to room. Parking is limited at the high school, so we urge you to come with other parents, if you can, or to plan on parking on neighboring streets and walking to campus. Please do not park on the school lawns or in fire zones, where your car may be ticketed.
After you enter the Brewster Road entrance, volunteers will offer you coffee and tea, and they will help you get started. Beverages will also be available elsewhere in the building. People with disabilities can enter the high school on the Post Road side of the building; the elevator located near Room 102 serves all four floors. We look forward to seeing you at our parent-teacher conferences.
