Venezuela Bans "The Simpsons"
If you are a fan of The Simpsons, you should probably not plan to visit Venezuela. Yesterday, a Venezuelan TV station pulled the plug on the show because it was ruled inappropriate for children.
The government agency responsible for television content ruled that the program could violate national regulations prohibiting “messages that go against the whole education of adolescent boys and girls.”
The Simpsons was airing at 11 a.m. on Televen TV. The program has not received a complete ban; it is just not allowed to air in that time slot. The network may decide to air it at another time.
The president of Venezuela is Hugo Chavez. He was elected to his position and serves as both the head of the state and the head of the government. He was elected in 1998 and then re-elected in 2000 and 2006. He has been a vocal critic of the United States.
Mr. Chavez was influential in the decision to take The Simpsons off the air. According to a spokesperson for the network, the station had not received any complaints about the show. In fact, the show had more viewers than any other show in the history of the station.
The spokesperson added that she received a call from the government agency saying that they had received complaints.
The station replaced The Simpsons with Baywatch, a show that features female lifeguards in bikinis and “hunky” male lifeguards.

I think it was wrong of Venezuela to band the show the Simpsons. Why would they let people view Baywatch. Also,The Simpsons has more viewers than any other T.V shows.I think it is wrong of them to put Baywatch instead of The Simsons, since it is such a great show!Even though The Simpsons is a little inapporiate.
I think Simsons are inappropriate for kids because they say bad words and show their private body parts.

I don't think the Simpsons should be banned because it's inappropriate. Okay, it's a little inappropriate, so what? I don't think the Simpons is really that inappropriate. If anything, I think that female lifeguards in bikinis and "hunky" male lifeguards from Baywatch is definitely much, much more innapropriate than the Simpsons!
I think the Simpsons should only have a time change. It should be shown when kids are in school. Adults should be able to watch it because they like it. For kids like us it is very inappropriate.
I think that they shouldn't ban Simpson.they should just ban the episodes that aren't appropriate for children.they have so many different things that have the Simpson on it like teeshirts pillows pictures and other things.so if they ban the show they must ban all of the other things that have thethings that have the Simpsons on it.
I think that they should the keep the show only if they put it back in the original version. Besides I also heard that a few years ago the Simpsons was appropriate for children. I suggest that the people who have jobs to help the show go smoothly should put it back to it's original state. So, people of all ages can enjoy the Simpsons funniness but without the inappropriate parts. That is my response about this article.
I think it’s all right that they banned The Simpson's because it is a little inappropriate. I disagree that they replaced it with Baywatch because it is not good for young children as well. The Simpson’s originally was not inappropriate for children but now it is because they are not respectful to one another and set a bad example. Baywatch was never any good for kids because of the sex on the show.
I think they shouldn't ban the Simpsons even though there's a lot of blood in it and adult language. Everyone also calls Homer and Bart fat if you watch it alot. I know why Hugo Chaves wants to ban the show. He likes to do other things that people don't like. He lied that he would give money to the poor and he changed the law so that he could be president for as long as he lives. That way no one could take him out of power.
I never watched the simpsons but people told me about it . A movie came out starring the simpsons called "The Simpsons movie" and it was rated PG-13 which is inappropriate for kids. Therefore I think it's a good decision for the show not to be aired so kids don't see it.
The Simpsons IS innapropreate, but that doesn't mean they have 2 ban it! i meen they could just like ban Dusturbia from the movies. NONONONONO!!!!!!!!!!!!
