Board Member Biographies Jill Spieler (Term: 2007-2013), President: Ms. Spieler is a computer graphic designer and project manager at a marketing group in Westchester. Before joining the Board, she served as president of the Town and Village Civic Club Education Forum, president of Kids BASE and the Little School, chair of Scarsdale's Parks and Recreation Council, and chair of the Citizens Nominating and Procedure Committees. She has also served on the Advisory Council on Youth, School Board Nominating Committee, School Board Legislative Committee, Village Board of Ethics, and Scarsdale and Westchester League of Women Voters. Ms. Spieler is a graduate of Queens College. She and her husband, Gary, have two children, both SHS graduates. Elizabeth (Liz) Guggenheimer (Term: 2007-2013), Vice President: Ms. Guggenheimer is an attorney experienced in legal, regulatory and governance issues related to nonprofit organizations. She is deputy executive director of Lawyers Alliance for New York, which provides legal services to nonprofits improving quality of life in NYC neighborhoods. She previously served as chair of Scarsdale Village Board of Ethics, as a member of Mt. Pleasant-Blythedale School Board, and on several school committees and nonprofit boards. Ms. Guggenheimer graduated from SHS, Harvard College, and NYU School of Law, and received her masters in public affairs from Princeton. She and her husband Randy have two children, both SHS graduates, one at college and one participating in City Year Lewis Leone, Jr. (Term: 2010-2012): Mr. Leone is vice president and general manager of WNYW-FOX 5 and WWOR-My9, FOX Television Stations' New York duopoly, and is a board member for the New York State Broadcasters Association. He is also on the board of PENCIL (Public Education Needs Civic Involvement in Learning), the New York City Police Museum, and the Westchester Chapter of the National Football Foundation. He serves as a corporate advisory board member for the Committee for Hispanic Children and Families and is a member of the Business Committee for the Metropolitan Museum. In Scarsdale, Mr. Leone has been very active coaching youth sports for the past decade, including football, baseball and lacrosse. He has served on the boards of Maroon and White and Scarsdale Youth Football. Leone is a graduate of Princeton University with a bachelor's degree in economics. He graduated from Scarsdale High School in 1977; he and his wife Wendy have two children, one at SHS and one in college. Jonathan Lewis (Term: 2011-2014): Mr. Lewis is a founding principal of Samson Capital Advisors where he chairs the investment committee and serves as a member of the executive committee. He is president-elect of the Westchester Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and a former vice president of the American Jewish Historical Society. He is a member of the investment committee of the Phi Beta Kappa Foundation and a former trustee of The Fellows of Phi Beta Kappa. He has served as president of the Scarsdale Forum (TVCC), vice president of the Scarsdale Historical Society, vice president of the Arthur Manor Neighborhood Association, and a member of the SBNC. He has been a Scarsdale Little League coach and a presenter at the Scarsdale Young Writers Conference. He is the author of Spy Capitalism: Itek and the CIA and co-author of Reflections of a Cold Warrior, both published by Yale University Press. He is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and holds an MA in history from New York University and an MBA in finance and management of organizations from Columbia University. He and his wife Laura have two children, both of whom attend Scarsdale Schools. Sunil Subbakrishna (Term: 2011-2014): Mr. Subbakrishna is a management consultant, whose specialty is advising large global corporations on becoming more competitive through information technology. While the bulk of his clients are financial institutions, he has also advised large global corporations in telecommunications, transportation and health care, as well as nonprofit organizations. In the past, he served as co-chair of the Scarsdale Technology Advisory Council, and board member for the Overhill Association. Mr. Subbakrishna has an MBA in Finance from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Illinois, and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Washington University in St. Louis. He was born in Bangalore, India and raised in Evanston, Illinois. He and his wife Geetha have lived in Scarsdale since 1994, and have two children, one at SHS and one SHS graduate. |
